Slack is the top choice for teams to communicate. It provides a virtual workspace that helps teams maintain open communication in a business environment. With Slack, users can host voice and video calls with up to 15 participants and even screen share with a desktop app, empowering better user interaction. Slack also supports options for private and group sessions, and one of its best features is Slack Huddles–an informal meeting space that lets you directly talk to your channel where you can share screen side by side with your team. The platform integrates well with Dropbox, Google Drive, and Trello as well.

When you use Slack together with work infrastructure like Atlassian, it satisfies in almost every aspect. From free subscription (when you join any thematic Slack community) to paid plan (when you use it inside your team's workflow), Slack performs greatly on every kind of platform: from desktop to mobile device
Some little UI/UX moments like "the message contains couple of links, so Slack suggests to drop previews on each of them". Disregarding to that, every other aspect of Slack seems to be really optimal, handy and of use.
Slack helps greatly in teamwork, collaborating between different departments (e.g. marketing team and design team), can be successfully implemented into existing infrastructure (e.g. Atlassian). If we talk about free-to-join thematic communities, Slack also can be a better deal than Discord or anything else
Communication and the ability to hook up integrations
nothing to complain about here. the downtime of their servers from time to time is frustrating but its not frequent
Remote work communication is perfect with Slack by our side
the interface, the class, the integrations with other apps
The fact you don't accept a short answer in this question
communication
I love the ability to use slack forms. Having group channels is amazing. The ability to huddle is great.
It is not initially intuitive to understand how to set up your channels and notifications. But once trained it is great!
We use it for all internal daily communications. It is effective to have team chats.
The quick and easy way to alert our entire team or individuals about necessary information without it getting lost in the black hole of email. OUr entire team uses Slack as our default form of communication now over both email and SMS.
Searching for files or older messages can sometimes be a bit of a task. The search seems to default to attempting to find what they think you want, while not sorting by date it was posted by default.
24/7 communication. It gives me the ability to drop small messages to my team at all times of the day/night, and they will see them the following morning if they have quiet hours set.
Being able to raise issues quickly with teammates. We usually move to email if it is serious. Helps to filter our inboxes down.
Slack can sometimes feel like you always need to be on, even when you are heads down, which can be distracting.
Solving the problem of no longer being able to tab a colleague on the shoulder regarding a question. The huddle tool is helpful for that!
Slack is one of the best team messaging apps, and it's a PCMag Editors' Choice pick. Slack is best tool i have used in my education community as well as business community.
some times its slow other than that its handling quite well all the task that are given to it. features that the provide are quite good but better if the services made bit cheap..
All business day to day task not only related to project but it helps in community buidup as well as audio feature is awesome and with no lag at all. Main problem i solved with slack is to keep colleague updated about what is update in project and what need to be done.
Opportunity to keep touch with all my colleagues all around the world
Nothing, is an amazing platform for workspace
Communicate instantly with colleagues if need to ask a question or for help them
UPDATE: By shipping quick video messages and audio messages with built in transcription and with huddles slack has made me update and give them a 10/10 they're the only one I've done this for. This helps to lead to the future of work. Instead of long detailed text or quick terse text you can make a quick vid and show your face to share context and tone and show on screen what you're thinking. Slack is very simple, searchable and convenient. If you didnt know slack is an aronym. Standard Log of All Communication and Knowledge SLACK. When a teammate left and I needed a comment I remembered him sharing all I had to do was search for the right channel that he made it, or even DM, where his email inbox becomes completely lost unless I was on CC.
Notifications and interruptions are a real risk. Establish boundaries, recognize the cost of task switching. Turn off as many notifications as possible and set intentional times to task switch to and away from slack. The proliferation of direct messages and private channels can be challenging but countered with a culture of openness. Cost can be a challenge, but a ton of value is being delivered for it.
A mix of synchronous and aa-synchronous and transparent and confidential communication. Often with images and links, threading to narrow in various channels. With videos and audio messages that are automatically transcribed slack has become an incredibly useful a-synch work communication tool. I prefer it to email so much its scary.
much less email, great for collaboartion
it's easy to have too many channels ping you everytime, so make sure you don't create many channels. if you do so, you will end up not checking everytime, which makes it lose its purpose. Also, their search SUCKS! that's their main weak point, but the benefits overshadow them.
team collaboration
UI and addon features with 100% availability
as such no any point. so far good and reliable
team communication and messages
Slack it's just the perfect tool to be connected with my team. We can go about our day and exchange async messages whenever needed or even a quick sync call, share our screens, documents, record screens and more. I love the fact that I can always check a thread and find what I need, regardless of the date the messages were sent, or if I am not in that specific channel!
I could only use slack for everything I need and I would be covered. All features work as promised. Keep adding integrations with other tools. Improving notifications.
Keep in touch and connected with my team, sharing important information and updates to go about our daily tasks. Send and receive documents, images etc. quickly...
It's very helpful to have the option for group or individual messages. I also love that you can customize the notification settings and the way it connects to so many other productivity tools.
I honestly can't really imagine how slack could be improved. It gets better and better with every update and includes things that I wouldn't have even thought would be so helpful.
Slack has completely changed the way we communicate in our organization and share documents. It's really easy to jump on a quick call with someone and connect it to other platforms.
1. Slack allows me to create channels & set permissions/visibility on the channels 2. Slack also allows group chats 3. Slack has integration with zoom, google products and many more 4. Slack allows having more than one workspace. In a big organization, each division can use its workspace. 5. Slack allows audio/video calls as well 6. Slack has a very nice phone app 7. Slack has a very good search that can search through all the groups, individual conversations and channels. 8. Slack allows to pin important conversations 9. Slack allows to mute/disable notifications and allows to set working hours to disable notifications during non-working hours.
1. Slack is too powerful and big decisions can be made on the channels or group chats without making official note of it. Sometimes these important decisions can be lost in the conversation. 2. You can not search across all workspaces. You will have to go to each workspace and search for what you are looking for. 3. Slack's phone app can be sluggish at times. 4. You can not migrate chat history from one workspace to another workspace if you are moving to a new workspace.
1. Slack is solving communication problems in a hybrid/work-from-home environment. 2. Slack is reducing delays in sharing the information people have within the organization.
The user interface is very fluid. Variety of documents are supported for attachments. The ability to share code block is the best feature.
Desktop and webapp has some latency, altough it is not too much, but still is noticble. Also, when uploading .txt files one it dumps out the text input directly into the message instead of sending the file as it is.
Mainly the problems of collaborating with my colleagues from different time zones. It is very convenient to check the status and local time of your colleagues and communicate with them accordingly.
Integrations and ease of use are top notch. And they're working on a seamless Salesforce integeration, wich will make things run much smoother for my company.
Nothing that I can think of. It fits all of my needs.
Intraoffice communication is a snap. Helping to get everyone out of email, which is a HUGE relief.
It's so easy to communicatew ith different teams whether it be different projects or remote workers through Slack's channels. It keeps everyone in the same loop and ready to go.
The one part of the software that is really lacking is the calling / video chat features. Often times you aren't able to pick up and we simply move the meeting over to Google Meet.
Easily being able to communicate with the teams / people that need to know about certain things through the channels features.
Slack makes work communication so much easier! I love being able to transmit files, huddle, talk, and archive info in Slack. So much easier to use than Teams! I'd like to use Slack and get rid of email as much as possible.
The only issue I have is that the sound is sometimes hard to get going. This may be error on some of the users' part. But other than that, cannot come up with any dislikes.
Slack is great for group communication, and I like having it on my phone as well. I plan to have my entire booth staff use it for communication at a show in Las Vegas this spring.
That you can add emojis and search for past things using the finder bar. Nothing is ever lost on slack! I also love how you can copy + paste a hyperlink into a word super easily
I dislike how once you released huddle, it as if slack made regular slack vidoe calls be less reliable. Also please add Zoom as an option for call such as is possible with googlehangout
Everything. Slack is pretty much the heartbeat of my company - CareRev. We would be lost in the work from home world without it. I have been using slack since 2017. It is a next level communication tool
