There are many job offers and many freelancers on Upwork. Therefore, there is a great offer and demand situation. In addition, ratings about freelancers and employers are available, which allows for a better assessment of the quality and trustworthiness of the other party before interacting at all. Furthermore, there are numerous features that allow freelancers to showcase their work. This is a great tool for both freelancers and employers as it provides a better idea of what to expect from that person. While searching for a job, there are many filters that make it easier to navigate the platform, which also happens when searching for a freelancer.
The fact that there are so many people using the platform leads to the possibility of certain irregularities. Fake jobs or jobs that require fake reviews on fake travel sites and similar scams can be seen sometimes. That said, the platform makes it easier to report when any of these irregularities take place. Also, it has become a more difficult place for new freelancers as features that used to be free now require payment. Therefore, new freelancers have a harder time earning a quality score, which is instrumental for employers looking for the best workers.
The platform has numerous features and tools that allow for easier navigation within it. Therefore, it is a great place to both find jobs and find great freelancers for long-term and short-term projects.
What I like best is the trustworthiness of the platform. I am 100% sure that I will receive money from my clients and they would trust me as well based on my profile
What I dislike is the Customer Support, not really efficient. I've tried to sent a couple email to the UpWork employees and never received a response from them. In addition, I partially disagree on the algorithm of the Job Success score, I would like to see some improvements on this. It seems that the person does not succeed in the job while it can also mean that a client did not provide a feedback because never logged in on the platform or because a contract was closed a bit later.
I am solving my work-life balance and the possibility to be flexible every day! I love this platform, it changed my life completely.

Upwork consistently delivers skilled individuals whose high-quality work product matches their resumes. Most jobs have multiple bidders unless it's for an obscure technical product. Bidders have generally shown good initiative to add value and be productively creative on given contracts. The ability to change contract terms at any time is very useful.
The file management system needs to be improved. Upwork admins should be able to create folders where files from any contract can be saved and organized for persistent reference. Secondly, the billing and invoicing could be simplified as well as adding statements of account on a quarterly and annual basis. Thirdly, UpWork could do better to weed out bidders who are under-performing. When a bidder shows a low rating but seems to have good work product it is difficult to find the negative reviews.
We require narrow skillsets at lower rates than we can source locally and at short notice. Having access to a global labor force has made our business more competitive and sustainable with a measurable impact on revenue and profits.
