From the first time we spoke with Bamboo HR representatives, their platform, information, and pricing were transparent. We have a medium-sized company here in Southeastern Idaho and have grown exponentially in the last few years. This has caused us to move from spreadsheets in all areas, including hiring, onboarding, reports, mental health client tracking, medical supplies and ordering, newsletters, HR, accounting, offboarding, benefits, and even some payroll. Bamboo HR was the most affordable and efficient company out there, not to mention referred to us by three different reputable companies.
The only two things we have not liked so far is the fact that we can't assign a single employee to a set of holidays or benefits. We have come up with a system to change their job title to include a unique character, meaning different things are offered. The limited assigning has been interesting, but I will say that we're new enough that there may be a better solution that we haven't discovered yet. The second thing was the fact Bamboo HR has "Hire Date" hard-wired into their setup for employees. Our company in Idaho has needed to use Hire Date as well as Start Date for the Labor Department, Unemployment and other situations. We got creative and just used the "Original Hire Date" as the hire date and "Hire Date" as the start date. Minimal issues compared to all the time, money and headache Bamboo HR is saving me, our employees and our company.
No missed tasks during Onboarding. Easier access for employees to their benefits, company announcements, onboarding documents, training videos, and company documents that are used daily. PTO and time off tracking are INCREDIBLE. They have solved all issues in those areas.
Absolute COMPLETE profile pedigree. End users love it as much as administration

It is super easy to use for our employees, all employee data is in one place, performance reviews are simple and not overwhelming for employees and managers, it is a great tool for onboarding new hires and as a reference for company information all the time.
I'd like the time off to be able to show an employee out for specific hours - example - John Jones is out from 2pm-5pm Wednesday, August 12, 2020; rather than when he is taking 3 hours off - it just shows he is off on August 12th.
Centralized employee information - this is a problem solved and a benefit.
The amount of documentation and request that can be done through Bamboo is amazing; you can vacation; disciplinary processes, organizational changes, documentation.
We do not dislike anything yet; it's been a great solution in our company.

User-friendly interface, it allows us to track data for all our employees, including the management, it always has something new for us and the support team helps us a lot with new updates. Simply happy with BambooHR.

We are managing data for our employees, onboarding processes, straightforward reporting.
The system is very easy to use. From the administrator's perspective, the setup of the account and modules was straightforward. The templates are excellent. The reporting tool allows me to create reports that slice and dice the data for the rest of our team. From the employee user experience, the platform is simple, easy to read, and navigate. They love the ability to change an address or see PTO at a glance.
The ability to search for information is not ideal. A better search function would help. For example, there needs to be a search field on approvals of wage adjustments, promotions, etc. It isn't easy during an audit to find approval data in the system, especially when we have years of data now to paw through. The auditors want documentation that the workflow is correct; we have requested through support for this to be an added feature. Also, in the Hiring module, it would be helpful to have a sort for job postings either by department or location. Finally, an API between the Hiring(Job Postings) and Facebook to link the job ads to our FB page would be nice. We had that ability with JazzHR, and it seems we have lost it with the conversion to Bamboo.
The ability for employees to see available time off, make a request that goes through an electronic approval process to Payroll has been very efficient. It saves on both delays and errors in approvals. Also, wage requests are easily tracked and managed. The ability to have multiple layers of approval has been a time saver.
Being able to access BambooHR from anywhere is a true blessing. I love that our employees are keeping their personal information up to date and letting me know if something is incorrect.
The calendar not showing the time someone is out.

Being HR Manager my Overall experience with BambooHR is very good, it's easy to use and intuitive. if you want to go paperless in your organization you can adopt BambooHR as an HR solution.
It's very easy and intuitive to use. The managers could provide a lot of things, like bonus, salary, increase salaries, vacation policy, holidays, important documents to sign, calendars, time off, etc. Very helpful for the onboarding process. When you need to request time off, one thing that is great, it allows the users to select specific hours, and not the full-day or half-day. This is great, especially for remote environments, where team members have different agendas, timezones, requirements, and locations.
They should have a place to upload invoices where the external contractor could submit their expenses, and that's helpful to track the activity and budget. I think would be good, for the new candidates, before access to the onboard process, could have a place, to provide, all the information, like contact details + sign the contracts or hire proposal. Would be good, if bamboo could provide a way to request time off, without access to the site or app, something like open a ticket by an email address (Like other Hd platforms) where that email is to send, directly to your manager for approval. The mobile app it's very limited, a lot of things that are available on the browser, are not available by the app.
Bamboo helps us to organize the Timeoff, the holidays and vacations of our staff, and also know when some team member it's out of office. Also is a good reminder to know, when the members arrive at the company or when is their birthdays.
You can mark onboarding tasks, policies, leave applications and it is also easier for the staff to get their info on it or anyone in the org. everything on your fingertips. you can fill in data for new joiners, the welcome message template is amazing as well.
I use it for only filling the data of new joiners, so I'm not sure. Don't want to write about something I have not experienced.
All the onboarding tasks are managed by the employees themselves instead of sharing separate emails about it... it can be attached to your profile itself.
Ease of use for both the admin (me) and the employees. I especially like the hiring app and the ability to get documents signed during the onboarding process electronically.
The implementation templates are developed for a US audience and contain information/assumptions not valid for other places (like, Canada).
Eliminating paper processes and replacing them with verifiable digital processes, saving time and improving accuracy. Giving a professional image to applicants with a quick, reliable communication interface. Eliminating duplicated information that may be out of date in favour of one-stop, reliable employee data.
BambooHR saves me so much time and paperwork and allows me to onboard much quicker, more seamlessly and in a more professional manner than any of my other competitors. My employees feel like they are a part of a team even though we have different locations. BambooHR is easy to use, so customizable for my small business and miles ahead of anything I would imagine an HR software program could do! The first training session I had with our personal trainer on the platform, I wanted to cry with relief because I knew I had found a better fit for our HR issues than I ever dreamed!
I dislike not being able to understand all of the features quickly enough to use them on day 1. In order to utilize all of the features I had to go back over my own processes and understand what I wanted to get out of BambooHR in order to enter it an organized fashion. I wish the TraxPayroll could be more customizable in being able to transfer employees to different locations that are on different pay periods.
I am solving my revolving door of employees problem with BambooHR. The hiring, onboarding, training from General Manager to Employee is fast, easy to use and seamless. I have solved the problem of having many information sensitive files in the hands of people who are coming in and out of business because BambooHR allows me to store all of that information in one easily accessible place. I am solving my issues of low employee morale. BambooHR allows my employees to stay in communication with other team members and makes them fee a part of the larger community.
It's easy to use and cheap, we love using it.
Not much, sometimes I'd like some more flexibility but for the price I can't complain.
Payroll, PTO management and general HR.
BambooHR has an extensive tool kit for utilization to combat those how to items we all face. The onboarding and offboarding process is a breeze once set up. Utilizing the employee experience and workforce management allow our company to see how employees view us and where we can improve.
I want all of my suggestions to be implemented now but we can't all be first. In all seriousness I would like to see the onboarding process completed from a cell phone not have to log into a computer for completion on some, not all. I'd also like to see when rehiring the documents are archived so we are able to use the same process a second time.
The administrative burden of entering information, wondering what employees think of the company, and how to accomplish tasks in BambooHR is lifted by the ongoing training and experienced, effective, and awesome BambooHR Support Hero's.
BambooHR provides us with time-saving performance management, gets accurate results, makes the most relevant decisions and converts them into real and reliable results for our company. It organizes all the information related to our consultants and implements it in a single, centralized and secure database, making everything faster and more efficient.
It does not cover the administrative and accounting functions such as payroll or social statement, the self-service module is very weak, it does not have a local edition where we can install it to our servers.
The software provided us with an excellent tracking system that helped us to reach the most qualified consultants to work within the organization, obtaining instant and relevant information quickly and accurately.
I like that as soon as I log in I can see the 2 most important things I need- time off, and direct deposit. I don't need to hunt around to search for benefits either. There is a dashboard view when you log in suggesting the top most used features or reasons for visiting the website which make it easy to navigate.
I would have to really pick apart the platform to find something that I dislike. Maybe it could look prettier? It's so functional, there isn't anything I could pick out that I dislike.
BambooHR has access to the links I need and people I need to talk to. This is a hub for everything personal to me- insurance, days off, pay, all in one spot.
BambooHR makes it super simple to request time off, view who is out of office, and find all of the necessary resources around our benefits.
I haven't run into a situation within BambooHR that would be considered a "con."
Solving the problem of having to take time off/mark that you will be OOO in multiple places - if you request time off in Bamboo HR, you and your manager are notified. I didn't realize how nice it is to have one platform that you can go to in order to access all of your HR resources.
I've been using Bamboo for nearly a year. My company isn't using every single feature that Bamboo offers, but the features that our company uses now are great. For me, a simple user interface is the most important aspect of any platform and Bamboo delivers that. I was actually out of the office during our internal Bamboo training sessions, but I was able to figure out the platform myself. We also use Bamboo for new hire onboarding and Bamboo has automated triggers that are delivered in the form of an email to all the process stakeholders. We were previously sending emails manually prior to using this feature, and as you can imagine, things always slipped through the cracks. Bamboo absolutely nailed basic features like requesting/approving time off, seeing who's out of office and employee work anniversaries. I also like the performance review, hiring, and company directory pieces of this software. Again, easy to use and has all the features you would expect from a world class HRIS. Bamboo can also be deployed internationally which our previous HRIS, Paycom, couldn't do.
Honestly, at this point I haven't found anything I don't like. I have used Workday and various other HR systems in my career and Bamboo is my favorite. Workday was very a comprehensive platform, but the UI wasn't as intuitive (granted this was 3 years ago and they may have improved this since). We were using Paycom prior to Bamboo and I can definitely say that Bamboo is LIGHT YEARS beyond Paycom.
There are 3 main areas that we are now accomplishing tasks better and faster since switching from Paycom to Bamboo. 1. Hiring - Communicating with candidates and sharing candidate profiles with hiring managers is seamless. 2. Performance Reviews - Prior to Bamboo, we were delivering performance reviews manually with Word docs and tracking this process in Excel. Bamboo has automated reminders that help a lot! 3. Company Directory - We didn't have a directory prior to Bamboo. Bamboo executes this feature flawlessly.
There was no hard sales pressure, but a more informative approach and no question big or small was too much trouble, the Sales rep wanted to make sure that BambooHR was right for our company needs and could continually grow with us.
There is nothing to dislike as BambooHR is simple to use
We had no HR data base and nothing of any real use on excel files which were secure. We had no next of Kin details or emergency phone numbers. We had no company directory and so staff had little way of contacting each other without searing for numbers. Our company organigram is now formally noted in the system and so staff know who they are reporting too and where they fit in the conmpany.
All information in one place. No need for papers or anything else. It has calendars, team information for HR purposes, time-off management, and a nice interface that allows for easy usage and centralized information. I also like that I as an employee can see and track my income range, update information, track time-off sed and scheduled and have my emergency contact. As part of the HR team I like all of those + the fact that we get to meet a little of our remote team through some basic questions.
I think the tool falls short as a 360 HR solution. We currently use other tools for employee engagement, review cycles weekly catch-ups, and even cloud storage services that help us keep info more organized. I'd wish they had a stronger sales and onboarding team to guide us through all the things we are not aware of that bamboo HR can offer. It can certainly benefit their game to engage more people to use their tool. We could go from once every week to an everyday tool if it was our ATSm Perks managements system or any other of the functions we don't know yet.
We use Bamboo HR mainly as a platform to manage time off and for calendar purposes, be it birthdays, anniversaries, holidays etc... Everyone is informed of who is out and who is reaching a milestone thanks to the integration with our calendar tool.
