Very clean interface for billing and sending invoices. When you see what the client is sent is it a very professional interaction. We can also set up click to pay for our clients to make bill pay easy. We are using the workflow feature for a multi-step review process before anything is released. That is a nice feature. I also like the Dashboards and ability to search and find saved invoices. The ability to copy and old invoice is also very helpful.
Since I am not in the system all the time I find that sometimes I am not sure if an invoice is really sent to a client. I tend to make sure I am cc'd. We also have some issues with workflow where the approver may send a draft to a client because they can see an invoice created right away.
Invoicing and purchase orders.
I like how simple it is to process transactions directly from your bank accounts, with transactions imported on a daily basis. I also like how easy it is to integrate with Stripe and other apps, such as Zapier.
Most support is handled through external advisors, rather than from the Xero team themselves.
Simplified bookkeeping and financial reporting. I love having a daily look at the business.
Xero is very easy to use and customizable. The reports and features are all easy to find and self-explanatory to use. There are many fields that can be used to track sales and expenditures. It is completely in the cloud which makes it easy to access.
Having to remove & redo reconciled payments before being able to edit the invoices. Not easy to quickly pull sales data by customer for sales reporting. Difficult to manage contacts.
Tracking different types of sales to different sales channels. Xero allowed us the ability for more data entry for more useful insights. Compared to the other options on the market, Xero is the better software.
Xero has an intuitive platform wherein you could just move around and you would be able to learn how to use it.
It would be great if they could provide a more tight filter for invoices.
tracking accounts payable and receivables with invoicing features.
Xero has easy to use reporting tools to allow me to manage my annual, quarterly and monthly budgets. I can easily update my budget if circumstances change, record all of my outgoings and go back to review previous months and/ or compare with other time periods. It also allows me to group by expenditure type and stuff can electronically submit expense claims and allocate the expenditure type.
When you are drilling down into the expenditure type it's difficult to get back to the overview report. you need to use the browser back button that usually it does not work at all and it is a bad experience for the user.
Budget management
We like that Xero's features/functionality and cost are vast improvements over Quickbooks.
We dislike that they didn't do more to help us migrate/transition from Quickbooks to Xero. The extent of their migration assistance was sending us links to information.
Solving our accounting needs while adding simplicity and lowering costs versus Quickbooks
Very clear to use, once it's setup a lot of previously manual processes are automated. It also integrates very nicely with several other backend systems.
There's a definite learning curve, getting it configured and getting the team up to speed
Getting clearer management accounts & integrating with other business systems (CRM, Project Management, etc)
The simple interface Reliable performance Customisable reporting
There are features which are hidden (e.g. Trust/Fund reporting) from people who are not tax agents or registered accountants. The support is only delayed/online - you cannot call, chat or email a real person! There are some irate people in the Xero Community discussion forums and some who have had to move to other products because it was too frustrating for them (I was ALMOST one of those myself, if it had not been for my superb financial controller who got us out of a jam). The multi-currency FX feature exists but NOT for expense claims (the most common need my business has for FX)!
Management accounting and reporting Tracking of income/expenses by asset Statutory reporting
I like that it is easy to use, visual friendly, I can find things very easily, the reports are great, very instinctive.
I find that Xero falls short in several areas that are crucial for our international financial and accounting needs. One major drawback is its inability to assist in batch payment file creation. Additionally, I have refrained from attempting to utilize it for international banking information, such as those containing Swift codes, as it seems incapable of accommodating such details. Another significant limitation is its failure to consolidate data from the two separate companies we have registered on the platform. Given these shortcomings, I am concerned that Xero may become obsolete for our requirements, as it lacks the essential features we currently need.
Xero is only effective in recording the financial and accounting information occurring within the registered American company. I cannot say the same for the Brazilian side of the business.
Xero is very user friendly compared to other accounting software especially for small business owners who feel overwhelmed with the amount of compliance. Xero makes it very easy to convert files from other accounting software and assist with the entire process. Customer support is very efficient compared with other accounting software and provide relevant and useful answers together with follow up. Integration with third party apps is seamless with additional features and updates added regularly. Access is very stable and offer different methods of accessing the program.
The downside of Xero is being able to access different Xero files at the same time for example businesses that have different company files and require to be open simultaneously. It's difficult to have different web browsers open in order to access the different files. The time out of being logged in could be extended to an option of a full 12 hours throughout the day especially when reconciling accounts, it's quite annoying to have to log back in several times throughout the day.
Business cash flow reporting and the dashboard assists with understanding which invoices are outstanding and which bills payable.
Apart of being user friendly, its feature is very simple to understand
There are some limitations in generating reports.
Simple and easy to use in generating reports
Easy to run reports intuitve from a book keeping poit of view integrates well with a number of other software
Multi currency does not work well You can not consolidate 2 xeros which makes group accounting impossible there are few basis steps in it that could be improved
Ability to show owners the finances in an understandable manner
Customized reports and easy to use and filtre
some limitations e.g. tracking categories has limit and not fit our company use
We require prompt month-end closing and Xero can help us to generate accurate reports
Xero is simple to use. I may only use its most simple features, but it does them well. Passing on my accounts to my accountant is super easy.
Xero is a great package, but the base package seems expensive for solo people using it just for simple invoicing.
I use xero as a freelancer for invoicing and tracking payments.
I do like how you can integrate other platforms in Xero, such as Accelo and Productive. It's relatively easy to use.
There are times when I cannot find an invoice, or it doesn't show me if an invoice was paid correctly. Also, I would like to receive notifications of past due invoices or expenses.
When I've entered in the same expense twice it doesn't recognize the same information. I do like their in app platform that allows me add receipts quickly by taking a picture of it. It captures the information very quickly and accurately.
The ability it connecting seamlessly to other systems using rest API
Not much of a system that can integrate with Xero unless the system is built in house
We manage and generate an invoice to the customer using our service
It is super easy to use and logically laid out.
One company with multiple offices at different addresses - not possible. No option to add telephone number to the invoice. Cant add payment instruction to bottom of invoice either. Having issues integrating with our bank, might need to change.
I love the automatic reminders that can be set. It saves me heaps of time and works remarable well at bringing in outstanding funds
I started using Xero with little to no experience with managing my books. The software is easy to use, intuitive and well organized. Reports work well.
It can be challenging to customize reports without going through the tutorials.
Xero helps me see clearly where my business is at from day to day, financially.
Easy to use. Can access it anywhere and Xero links with most bank making bank reconciliation fast and easy.
As an online software company, it is usual to have bugs when a new version is released. However, when Xero has bugs it changes things that can cause issues in your accounting system i.e. changing a customers invoice to GST INCL instead of EXCL etc. If you make changes to a repeating invoice, journal etc the notes give a time and a date but not what was changed. Help is only available through email which is fine most of the time but sometimes you do need someone to speak to.
Time-saving features like automated bank feeds
Setting up invoices and bills is incredibly easy. And the visual cues of its design are easy to follow
Some of the more intricate reporting commonly done in QB can be a little tricky to recreate exactly.
Different levels of management are able to see and edit specific components of accounts and invoices.
