Limited Job Opportunities: Remote.com is primarily a payroll service provider and does not offer job listings or employment opportunities. This means that you'll have to find your own job as a remote worker and then use Remote.com's services to handle your payroll. Platform Complexity: Some users may find Remote.com's platform a bit complex to use, particularly when it comes to managing taxes and compliance requirements. The platform may require a bit of a learning curve to navigate effectively. Pricing Structure: Remote.com's pricing structure may not be suitable for all types of global workers. The company charges a percentage of the worker's salary as a fee, which may be higher than other payroll service providers' flat fees, particularly for higher-paid workers. Limited Payment Options: Remote.com currently only supports payments through direct deposit and wire transfer, which may not be convenient for all workers. For example, workers in countries where PayPal or other digital payment methods are widely used may find it inconvenient to receive payments through direct deposit or wire transfer.
Remote.com provides solutions to several challenges faced by global workers, including: Simplifying Payroll Management: As a global worker, managing payroll across different countries and currencies can be complex and time-consuming. Remote.com simplifies this process by handling payroll administration, ensuring timely payment and compliance with local tax and labor laws. This saves time and effort, allowing you to focus on your work and professional goals. Providing Flexibility: With Remote.com, you have the flexibility to work from anywhere in the world, which is a significant benefit for those who value work-life balance and the ability to work from their preferred location. This can also enable you to work for companies that are based abroad without the need to relocate.
The simplicity of the interface and the knowledgable support from the sales team leading up to signing up. The support team is also really responsive if you have queries after signing up.
The details on what is included in the employee core benefits module and what is not and the requirements for this could be more transparent upfront. A mock payslip before the first month would assist with this. Unfortunately, this is only available if you pay for it. Feels like the initial one could be complementary.
The complexity of a new local market and compliance from a legal and tax perspective is thoroughly dealt with on your behalf. The software required for expense submission, leave tracking etc., is all included. It is more cost-effective than setting up your own legal entity and much less risky and cumbersome to maintain.
Nice idea in theory although in reality it's not a viable long term solution. The UI is OK and first parts of onboarding an employee, such as the contracts library are nice.
There are two major problems with remote.com. The first is their bait-and-switch approach to pricing. They offered the ability to host contractors on the platform for free (they always charged for full time employees). A few months after persuading us to move our contractors to the tool, they decided that they would instead charge money for contractors, entirely invalidating the reason we chose them in the first place. They could easily have grandfathered current customers on the old pricing, but chose not to. The second problem is how incredibly slow and process driven they are. It takes many days of back and forth with mixed levels of competency from their support team to resolve issues. It's just not viable for faster paced companies.
Hiring employees around the world and managing things like pay. We are not getting any benefits however due to the multiple issues that we have encountered with the service.
Nothing. Terrible customer service and poor transparency.
A) They have frequently overcharged us and delayed paying the refund B) They charged us when one of our employees went on mat leave even though we confirmed that they wouldn't. C) There is next to zero transparency on what part of the charge is payroll vs. their service fee.
It's supposed to solve overseas recruiting. It does that very very poorly.
We're saving money using Remote! We used to pay employees extra to cover European state healthcare contributions. Remote handles all contributions/taxes, including healthcare, and it's resulted in money-saving for us. There are improvements for the employee as well, as they no longer need to register as their own entity, pay entity government contributions, etc.
The onboarding process took several weeks, specifically Remote's KYB process which was required before we could link our bank account and pay people. I didn't know that this was a blocker until I tried linking the bank account to pay our employees for the month, unsuccessfully. When I reached out to Support, I found it was because of the KYB...it would be helpful to make the KYB a mandatory / more prominent part of the sign-up process.
Remote has made the process of paying international employees and international contractors so much easier! We used to have to manually wire payments every month, which was an administrative burden as well as costly in wire transfer fees. With Remote, payments are automatically debited from our bank account. Our contractors have given feedback that Remote's automatic invoice-generating process is easy to use and saves them the time of having to write up and email invoices. There are so many helpful resources everywhere so you know what the best practices in each country are, and how to stay compliant!
I've been managing remote teams for years, and Remote has been a game-changer for me. From hiring talents across continents to ensuring everyone gets paid on time, it's made everything so much smoother. Plus, the peace of mind knowing there are no hidden fees? Priceless. It's clear that Remote truly understands the challenges of global HR. Highly recommend to any team lead navigating the complexities of international work!
While the desktop version is robust, the mobile experience could use some refinement. It's functional but not as seamless as I'd like.
Remote has transformed our global operations. It's simplified international hiring, streamlined payroll across currencies, and brought transparency to costs. The platform's commitment to data security is reassuring. In essence, Remote has made managing a worldwide team straightforward and stress-free.
The help desk is usually super helpful and kind on solving doubts. The platform is well structured to get/see the payslips, to submit expenses and to request the days off in a clear and easy way. I can see that it's contantly evolving dev wise. It's nice that they hire services from Localyze for visa matters, their service is also nice.
My main problem with Remote is the design of their payslip, it's so badly structured and confusing. The grids go all over the place, it's not clear what's covered by me and what's covered by my employer and because of that when I have an expense it feels like a steal and I have to invest time in consulting with the help desk and also Remote has to invest time in resolving this when the solution is so simple. I would like to have a summary of: -This is your salary -This adds to your gross (insurance, etc) -This is your total gross -This is the deductions and the whys -Here's your reimbursement (if applies) -This is what you're going to get at the end I rather having a longer document to read but understanding. As a software developer I must say it's always in mind doing something so anybody would understand and know how to use it. A lot of the terms in that document are either not in the common knowledge or are even abbreviated which makes it worst. --- Also would be great if there would be a notice in the updates of when you'll get paid that month, the day isn't always the same, specially if the 24th is in the weekend and would be good to know if it'd be on Friday or Monday.
The fact that my company is based in Australia and i can work from Poland following this country's law, also the sponsorshop of the visa and follow ups on that matter.
The portal is easy to use for both myself as an administrator but also our employees as users. I have always been extremely impressed with the attention to detail and the effort that the Remote staff go to engage with us professionaly, friendlily and quickly: from our first point of contact (Tom Bosse, who was genuinely a saint, I still think of him today as an example of what an account manager should be), to the customer service and legal team answering all of my questions, to the people who respond when I have a problem or am looking to get a query sorted asap. In comparison to other companies who sell services, I have never found Remote to be too pushy or intense, they have always provided the information and support for me to make decisions I am happy with. I am consistently impressed on every front when it comes to the people who work at Remote. The actual service itself is a fundamental lifesaver. It has allowed us to work with people from all over the world who are fundamental to our business. The price is also comparatively lower than other companies around the world who do a similar thing. There has never been a problem in terms of cost, service provided or legitimacy of the service. Even down to things like supporting visa applications for people who we employ through Remote, the process has always been quick, clear and seamless. I will always look favourably on my interactions with Remote as a vendor.
The only thing I would have previously had a small issue with was the tight turnaround time required for invoicing. Although I have always been so grateful for your leniency when it comes to missing the deadline, working for a big company like Spotify where the invoicing processes can be a little bit more laborious, I was extremely grateful when the invoicing timeline was extended from 7 days. That would genuinely have been my only piece of feedback.
Remote is solving the problem for us of employing numerous people, ranging from 10 hours per week to full time, across the globe. We would otherwise have not been able to do so as we would have been taking on too much risk having them as contractors. We also previously used Remote to provided extra Benefits in Kind.
