Kintone offered great value for lots of customization and flexibility. There was no upselling, and we could set it up with little to no difficulty. Others charge an arm and a leg for a lot less than the features that were offered by kintone.
The administration panel needs to be a little more fluid, I think that if we werent so old we would have difficulties with the administation panel lack of transaparency.
The ability to log and share data, to finally be able to effectively communicate and keep track of customer issues, requests, details the system that we have designed is very similar to an ERP solution without the ERP Price.
We've been with Kintone for about a year and it's been a pretty good experience. We've been able to create some simple apps quickly and painlessly without the need for development skills. However, with our team's development skills, we've also been able to create much more complex production managment software that connects multiple apps together. Everything is adaptable and thus we keep building on it as our business grows.
It's not as pretty as some software out there, but the fact that it works better than most is far more important. It works on mobile phones, but it's not fully mobile adapted.
We looked at every major industry software and decided we would be cutting corners by using any of them, or we would be committed to a high monthly cost that didn't make sense for the size of our business. We've been able to build our own customized software for our business at a reasonable monthly fee that we honestly feel is better suited for our business.
From the perspective of a small business with particular custom needs, Kintone and their staff were able to help us identify a better way of doing things at a very approachable price. One of our favorite things is the connection with our point of contact and their willingness to share their time to ensure we get a product that works for us.
The customizable nature of Kintone can make it feel overwhelming. You need to have a very clear idea of what you would like to do, but once that is established, their staff is very accommodating and creative in finding a way to make that idea a reality.
Inventory management. Our inventory changes constantly. Our materials need to be tracked on a project-to-project basis in terms of bought-at price, sold-at price, ordered date, received date, shipping date, etc. Ultimately, we now have a platform where we can keep track of everything in a way that is relevant to exactly us, and not a developer's idea of what might be.
Support was fantastic in assisting with setup and creation of an application. Robust features to customize almost any need an application or use case may have. Was able to create an entire inventory tracking system with mobile app capabilities to include taking and storing of pictures open delivery and pickup of packages. Check In/Out of boxes and items with audit logging. Literally took a day maybe 2 to perfect the setup and go live in production after importing the excel sheet into the database.
The licensing model has a flaw in that it treats ever user equally nearly so building an application that may have a user that uses that application 7 hours a day is the same license and cost for a user that only uses it 30 minutes a day. It can very quickly turn a simple application from a few dollars to several hundred or thousands if you invite an entire company just to use the app 1/10 the amount of time the main super users do. This can be cost prohibitive and remove the no code low code convenience if over 3-5 years it costs far more than just a custom developer would. The user permissions and application permissions is a little confusing. The model really could benefit from hourly credits like a pool of hours for non-essential users and then flat rate active fulltime access. Keeps it cost effective and allows for blanket installs of users across an entire org when you are unsure just how well adoption will be company wide.
Inventory tracking, forms tracking, audit logs with picture verification with a check in/out functionality of files in storage. Customer can request a box and it starts a workflow process with approvals for the life cycle of that packs and keeps historical logs and audit trails of who did what. Includes email notifications and in application alerts.
Ease to integrate with AWS. I needed serverless solutions to display bond price feed from third party vendor into social marketing microsite. I used kintone API with AWS API gateway to get data directly from kintone database. It was accomplished by a few lines of JavaScript code.
I hope there are more price options for small business users (Currently five users minimum). Also, I need more reporting capability with kinetone.
Serverless data integration between third party vendors. The client is able to provide curated information to their customers.
I like that Kintone is highly customizable. Some qualities include custom folder creation and 3rd party app integrations going smoothly. While Kintone's competitors have a more modern feel, I can appreciate the simplicity.
I dislike that Kintone looks and feels old. And it doesn't look like that is going to change. Have better, sharper looking apps, with more color or creative logos and I would enjoy playing with Kintone more.
Kintone has made organizing our customer information so much easier. I realize how important it is to categorize data and make it easy to find AND read. Our business performance has increased by at least 15%.
The core functionality was the same as other competitors, except the pricing for non-profits wasn't beatable. It is relatively simple to use for someone who has only used a competitor's product (QuickBase) and doesn't have any real coding or back end knowledge.
Not a huge fan of the GUI and haven't been able to find a way to really alter that. Particularly when it comes to the forms, I wish there was a way to create more contrast and make things able to be viewed more easily.
I'm tracking several processes for a project that I manage. I'm also using this database to track other projects as well which have previously only been tracked in an annoying Excel sheet. Those were a hassle to use and even worse for collaboration when people from multiple organizations need to be aware of what is going on.
I love that Kintone allows me to almost effortlessly track data. We have expanded the data tracking of our organization exponentially because of Kintone. It is VERY easy to create an app and easy to import and export data to a spreadsheet. I also LOVE that Kintone offers a Non-Profit price break. It allows us as a small non-profit to use a wonderful tool. We keep adding apps and increasing our ability to gather quality data.
There are a few features that are missing, that would be helpful. 1) searching for a partial name, like typing "JA" and having all of the names that meet that being available to select from. 2) being able to sort the 'apps' based on my personal frequency of use rather than when they were created.
We are tracking so many data points. It is very easy to provide grant funders or the general public with solid data. Our productivity increased and our team feels confident in the data they are gathering.
