Knack is a no-code development platform that lets businesses build simple web apps and online databases. The platform lets users import data from spreadsheets or define it from scratch. From there, users can build interfaces to display and manage that data using elements like forms, tables, and searches. Apps can be easily embedded into any website and then further styled or manipulated via jQuery.

I've tried several web app database builders and Knack is by far the most powerful. Without any coding, we've built several apps that our team uses at our business, including an complex internal recipe and order management app, and an internal/external hiring app. These apps have withstood the test of time over several years of use. One great thing about Knack is that each of your app's users is counted simply as a record; you're not charged per user. So cost is never an issue when deciding whether employees receive accounts for our apps.
I think the next phase of Knack should include more features for notifications (especially for mobile) and pushing live data updates to user's pages without needing a refresh. Since they've already covered so may use cases for desktop and basic mobile webpages, these would open up possibilities for new types of tablet and mobile apps that users may want to create.
We use Knack for problems and data sets that are too complex for a Google Sheet, and/or require a variety of user permission levels. And the fact that Knack is entirely cloud-based allows our apps to be easily used by team members in various locations or at home. For instance, it allows us to have one recipe database across our company, and it allows wholesale orders to be entered by the sales manager for production staff to see without a million emails back and forth.
The Knack system allows us to create online data collection for our field team to easily use.
I haven't found anything I dislike in the Knack system.
We have employees all across the country and we needed a way to allow them to input data that we can track. The Knack system allowed us to design forms and other informational pages that all of our employees can easily access.
Knack is one of the easiest to use app I have ever encountered. We have used this software in our company to manage contact list, link and use different softwares together. We have integrated with the QuickBooks app, which has really help in tracking and keeping clients details; contact ,addresses, invoices, payment and more. Pricing of the software is based on the number of apps used.
I loved everything on this app except a few setbacks, such as : not economical to use it on one software, imputing all the information, you need to have basic cascading style sheets knowledge to use it.
Knack greatly improved how we work in our company in terms of service delivery and speedy work by our staffs since you can integrate all softwares at one place instead of switching them.
Within hours, I was up and running with a projects database app which allows users to query the various projects that our company is working on. I did not need any IT help or database experts, just knowledge of the subject matter as it was very easy to set things up and enter data.
Knack was not able to do a fairly complex query that I was looking to execute for a given view. Their support team was fast in diagnosing things and letting me know that what I wanted to do was not possible at present time, but that they would add this functionality as a feature request to be considered for a future update.
Our company was managing all of our projects on spreadsheets which quickly became outdated and/or everyone was not all using the same latest/greatest spreadsheet which led to confusion. By having everything housed in Knack, everyone now knows that the Knack app is the latest/greatest source. We also have multiple people managing the data so it is easy for updates to be made instead of finding the keeper of the spreadsheet.
Great software for dorks like me that don't know much about programming and complex databases and whatnot, but need something more advanced than Google Forms, Wufoo, etc. It's easy to use, relatively inexpensive, and can make your life so much easier! If you're a nonprofit, they'll give you a 25% discount (pretty generous).
Very little. The front-end user interface is just one thing that comes to mind for improvement, specifically the ability to change how components of a page appear on the screen.
My nonprofit has been able to go paperless with a number of major business and HR processes - such as with timesheets, PTO request and tracking of hours, vendor check requests, personal reimbursement requests, etc.
You can easily set up a complicated app with a lot of database needs
Could have control over the user interface - It would be a complete app builder with that!
Needed a place that received a database from surveys that my clients were able to access and export from.
Our team has used Knack to build out entire OS systems for nonprofits and small businesses. It's flexibility allows for many variations to meet needs from receipt submissions on the finance side to data tracking on the program/mission side. While there is a learning curve, once you get the 'Knack' of how the platform works, you will be building in no time.
The UI can use some more flexibility in how it looks and how the embedded tables function on sites. Internally the design is not the number #1 priority, but when customer facing, being able to add some more design components would be great. They do offer some levels of CSS flexibility which helps a bit.
Building operating applications for various nonprofits and small businesses from finance, to HR, to client facing needs.
No code. Great builder. Excellent documentation. Great support . Ability to customise with css/js if you like. Multi users with different views and permissions. Excellent reporting and dash boarding tools
Needs better gui dev tools, video examples and live data import .
Data collection and sharing for global group. Desktop and mobile access. Custom development so focused on needs no need for lengthy setup and training for users.
Decent interface in the builder, I have about 10 applications running and I can easily get into them and review and make changes. Also really can grow with more complex needs, I've been surprised how as the needs have become more complex Knack can deal with that and scale. It's very easy to spin something up and start collecting data.
Sometimes they make changes that break things! Support is very good, but I have customers who rely on the DB so if there is any downtime it has an impact. Must admit probably over the last 6 months they have got much better at this and uptime issues or service problems have been rare. I also wish the reporting was a bit more powerful. Better ad-hoc queries, charting and visualisation would be good.
I'm building complex DBs to collect, manage and report on case management in the social care sector. The tool I build in knack is better featured that many of the existing professional software players in the space and is a tenth of the price.
Creating a database on Knack is simple and analyzing the same is simpler :)
They can work a lot on UX and UI. The current UX is not so user friendly.
We are currently managing a very huge data base of our customers.
doing my job the programming and creation of online databases are frequent, using knack to establish better links has helped me, and I have much more performance as a professional with the program, uses js drivers that allow faster work and always increasing the personalization, thanks to the modern filters of the program I make each data record and keep effective results
It is important to know each program before using it and know what its limits and failures are, in this case knack has good power and does not give me problems or failures, as a user I am happy to have it, if there are any changes that I would like to make in your panel main buttons are needed to execute more direct orders, it is a very simple panel that if it could be adjusted and customized, each user would be guaranteed a more comfortable work with a platform that fits their tastes and requirements
The number of filters that the program has that make my work experience wonderful is surprising, the cost is excellent and its cloud has good tools to enter my devices while being in the office or on a business trip, it is a program that by not needing a heavy installation, I can use it on all my devices comfortably
I like the easy-to-find different features at the top of the page
I dislike the default setting of 25 entries per page because it sometimes seems like it's not all there
We are solving the problem of allowing students access to a user friendly portal to enroll
I do not know any coding and I am able to create custom solutions for my business anytime I want. I have tried other platforms online but this is by far the easiest to use.
Some customization require coding knowledge. Ecommerce is still under development.
I have created multiple applications from an online store / marketplace to real estate CRM, database of properties and some experimental apps.
Knack is an online database application platform that is superb for creating our database objects depending on our client procurements. It is easy to migrate our pre-existing databases to Knack with its import feature, which ensures record mappings and key validations. Querying is very simplistic, and its backup occurs regularly, thereby ensuring database latency & integrity.
It provisions inline editing so that we can edit our records simply by click and edit rather than reloading the platform to reflect the changes. I don't find anything to dislike about Knack.
The best thing about Knack is its capabilities to create multiple database cluster applications which can be integrated into a cordial platform provided by Knack. This process helps me to collect memory logs, process interactions, and transaction requests which are key performance metrics to evaluate the optimization strategies for our enterprise applications. It has brilliant load balancing implementations which automatically allocate resources based on our incoming workload. Navigation features are convenient, and we can guide over our application. Its easy to replicate my database application clusters as it offers no-code platform for developing them for our customers.
The UI is explicit and performance in database storage overcomes hassles of taking up large online spaces.
There is no such drawback that I could analyze about the product and its features.
The fundamental factor of timid storage of large datatypes has been a key solution with use of the product
My work as a programmer is often complicated, luckily I decided to try knack and the program has never left me bad, I easily create and improve databases and thanks to its good tools convert spreadsheets to databases that are in Line is always quite easy and fast, I like this program a lot because I can have great customization and use js controllers to improve my experience and work with the program, under the command of knack the application of filters and data logging is done without problems and with fairly modern methods
A program must be fast and effective and knack has these characteristics so there is little I would like to change, its price is somewhat high and the general view of the program could be more modern and have more visible tools that are easier to navigate to improve user experience, especially at the time of deployment and start using the program in the offices.
This program has a lot of power and I like this, its platform allows me to connect and enter all my devices and the filters and methods for records and data modification are very accurate which helps me to have a much faster job than I had With older methods, I have quite a few advantages using the program.
After testing several alternatives for online database app building tools, Knack is the simplest and easy to use.
Even after using it for a year, it does seem to be a little buggy. It also has many limitations for anyone who is familiar with relational database programming or writing complex Excel formulas.
Internal goal planning and measurement tool was built on Knack and integrated with our single sign on provider.
I liked how easy it was to use the product and also one thing that I can mention that the design is simple and clean
It felt the same as the other products nothing much changed and not much customization
I am trying to implement it in the company problems are the onboarding process and But it is easy to use so the people are catching up to use the product. We use it in our product team.
